4 weeks today! It may not seem like a lot at all but to me the days have been dragging on! Lots of girls don't even get their BFP's for a few days after the 4W mark, I'm just one of those lucky short cycle girls. In week 4, now safe in your womb, the ball of cells (blastocyst) splits in two, becoming the embryo and the placenta. The amniotic sac and fluid are forming around baby, and will act as a cushion for the next eight months. At this point of development the structures that eventually form the face and neck are becoming evident. The heart and blood vessels continue to develop. And the lungs, stomach, and liver start to develop. It is the size of a poppyseed.
